Privacy Policy
Thanks for using NextRep! This policy explains how we handle your data within the app.
Summary: NextRep prioritizes your privacy. Your workout data is primarily stored on your device and, if enabled, automatically synced via Apple’s iCloud service. We do not store any of your personal workout data on our servers. We only receive error and performance reports from testers (via TestFlight) to improve the app, and this is optional for regular app users. We will never sell your data.
Information Stored
NextRep is a workout tracking app. This means we store information about your workouts directly on your device, including the exercises you do, sets, reps, and weights. Crucially, all workout data and health information remains entirely on your device or within your personal iCloud account. We do not upload, sync, or store any of your personal workout data on any servers owned or controlled by us. NextRep is designed to be local and offline-first, with iCloud providing optional device-to-device synchronization handled directly by Apple. We will never sell your data.
iCloud Synchronization
NextRep leverages Apple’s iCloud service to automatically sync your workout data across your devices, provided you have an iCloud account set up on your device. This ensures your workout history, exercises and other app data are consistent and accessible across all your Apple devices where you use NextRep. This synchronization is handled directly by your device and Apple’s iCloud service using a CloudKit container; we, as the developers, do not have access to or store this data on our servers. It remains within your personal iCloud storage, managed entirely by Apple. This feature is designed to enhance your user experience by providing seamless data continuity and backup without us ever handling your private workout data.
Health App Integration (Optional)
NextRep can integrate with your device’s Health app to enhance your workout tracking experience. This integration is entirely optional and requires your explicit permission when the app first launches. If you choose to allow access, NextRep can read your weight for more accurate calorie calculations and write your workout data to your health app. This allows you to consolidate your fitness information in one place. Even if you grant permission, you remain in control. You can revoke NextRep’s access to your health data at any time through your device’s Health app settings. NextRep will function fully without this integration, but some features may be less accurate or convenient.
Error & Performance Reporting
To help us improve NextRep, we use Sentry to receive crash reports, error information and performance data. This may include details about your device (such as device type, operating system version and available memory). While we implement robust measures and our app architecture is designed to exclude any personal workout data, in the extremely rare event of a crash during a workout, a minimal and anonymized piece of non-identifiable workout context - such as general exercise names or numerical measurements (e.g., sets, reps, or weight values without user association) - could theoretically be included. This would be purely for the purpose of diagnosing the issue, and we go to great lengths to prevent this. This information is important for identifying and fixing issues and ultimately delivering a better user experience.
- Production Builds (Optional): For regular, publicly released versions of NextRep, this data is only sent if you choose to opt-in during the app’s first launch.
- Test Builds (via TestFlight): If you are participating in our TestFlight program, you’ll be using pre-release versions of NextRep that are still under development and inherently more prone to errors and crashes. To help us identify and fix issues, error and performance reporting are automatically included in those test builds. This information is crucial for us to improve the app and get it ready for public release on the app store. This only applies to TestFlight builds and does not affect the regular app store version of the app. If you are a tester and have concerns about this, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Sentry Data
- Data sent to Sentry is stored in the EU. This means your data is protected by EU data protection laws.
- No identifiable personal information is ever sent to Sentry. While IP addresses are inherently part of any network request, Sentry is configured to immediately scrub them, along with other potentially sensitive data, before they are stored, ensuring they are not associated with your data.
- Sentry keeps error data for 30 days.
- You can contact us at jake@nextrep.app to request that any data held by Sentry about you is deleted.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make any significant changes, we will let you know within the app.
